Player pen pictures - first team 2011 - 12

Sam Leggett – Goalkeeper.  A young keeper who has joined from Wealdstone during the summer. Sam has really developed since arriving and now takes the keepers shirt on a regular basis.

Peter Gatti – Defence.  Peter is currently the longest serving player and has made well over 200 appearances for the club. Peter has seen the lows and the highs at the club, however, his first game in this long run of appearances did not bode so well as back on the 7th January 2006 the Waders lost 4-2 to London Colney, on the plus side Peter scored one of the Waders goals which is probably why he came back the next week. Previous Clubs; Arlesey Town, St Neots Town.

Liam Folds – Defence. As club Captain in the 2008-09 season Liam can claim to be the most successful in the Club’s one hundred and thirty five year history as he lifted the Spartan South Midland Premier Division shield and took the Club to its highest ever level in football. Liam is an experienced defender and as he proved last year a good leader and example to his fellow players. First match for the club on Saturday 9th August 2008 against Harefield United the team lost 3-1 on the opening day of the season but of course went on to win the league. Previous Clubs; Bedford Town, Aylesbury United Kettering Town, Hitchin, Aston Villa.

Steven Gentle – Defence.  Steven originally arrived as a forward but it soon became necessary for him to fill in as a defender, a role he had at Bedford Town. Steve has played more regularly as a forward this season making him one of the more versatile players in the squad. Previous Clubs: Cambridge City and Bedford Town. BTFC debut – 2nd October 2010 in 1-1 draw with Metropolitan Police in the FA Trophy.

Brad Hewitt – Defence. An experienced defender who became a target for the Waders during the summer break and has joined from Hemel Hempstead Town.

Darryl Coakley – Defence.  Left sided full back who has impressed since joining from Bury Town. First game for BTFC 13th September 2011 4-0 win against Daventry Town.

Craig Daniel – Midfield.  Another player that the club had been tracking for a little while and we finally signed Craig in time for the new campaign. A quick wide midfield player who scored a couple of quality goals in the pre-season friendlies. Former club – Bedford Town.

Ashley Fuller – Midfield.  Ashley’s ability combined with a great turn of pace has caused a few problems for opposition right-backs. Along with his ability to pick out a good pass his shooting and the speed of it has put Ashley on the goal scorers list in spectacular fashion last season. Joined from Cambridge City making his debut on 22nd January 2011 in the 4-1 win over Uxbridge scoring two of the goals.

Kevin Kilroy – Midfield.  Having proven to be a thorn in the side to the Waders whilst the captain of Hertford Town we solved the problem by signing the player in late October of 2008. Kevin made his Waders debut on Tuesday 28th October 2008 in the 3 – 0 win over Langford. Kevin’s ability to read the game and make the important pass or tackle make him a crowd favourite.

Stuart Lochhead – Midfield. Stuart had a good first season for the Waders and would have made more starts if it were not for injuries, his passing and ability to get forward make him a constant threat to opponents.. First match for BTFC – Saturday 14th August in 2-2 draw with Aylesbury. Previous Clubs; Stotfold, Hitchin Town, Borehamwood.

Jonathan Woolf – Midfield. Jonathan joined the Waders from Bedford Town and had a good first season with the Waders, unfortunately injury kept him from making as many appearances as he would have liked last season. First match for BTFC – Saturday 14th August in 2-2 draw with Aylesbury. Previous Clubs; Bedford Town, Hitchin Town.

Alex O’Brien – Midfield.  The third player that the Manager targeted for this campaign and judging by performances in the pre-season friendlies it is clear to see why we were keen to sign the former Leighton Town player.

Craig Rydeheard – Midfield. The popular and experienced midfielder re-joined the Waders in October 2011 following a brief spell at Hemel Hempstead Town.

Thomas McGowan – Midfield. Thomas has been around for the last season but injury kept him from making many appearances. He has looked sharp in the friendlies and looks set to be challenging for a place in the team.

James Freshwater – Midfield.  A young player who has good control and pace that cause the opposition plenty of problems. For a winger he has managed to find the back of the net a few times to add to their problems. Made his Waders debut on Saturday 15th August 2009 in the 3 – 1 win over Aylesbury United and scored the second goal that day.

Scott Field – Midfield. Another player who has suffered from injuries last season but is on the road to recovery.

Paul Barnes – Forward.  Leading goal scorer for the Waders last season. His speed of thought combined with great pace caused problems for many defences last season. We are pleased that he has chosen to wear the green and white of Biggleswade Town for a second season. First match for BTFC – Saturday 14th August in 2-2 draw with Aylesbury. Previous Clubs; AFC Wimbledon, Hitchin Town, Arlesey Town, Barton Rovers.

Harry Hunt – Forward.  Fast paced forward with a history of scoring goals at this level. Harry’s determination and ability to take up a good position make him a constant threat to defences. First match for BTFC – Saturday 19th March 2011 in the 6-2 win over Northwood and scored the sixth goal of the game. Previous Clubs: Arlesey Town and Hitchin Town.

Brett Donnelly – Forward. Brett has a history of scoring goals at whatever club he has played for and has in the past scored a few against the Waders. A good strong forward and someone we hope will cause other teams a few problems. Joined the Waders from Hitchin Town in 2009 and played his first full match for BTFC on Saturday 21st November 2009 in the 1 – 0 win over Atherstone Town. Previous Clubs; Stotfold and Potton United.

Mitchell Cole – Forward. Quick paced player who recently joined from Hitchin Town.

Chris Nunn – Manager. When Chris arrived at the club in November 2006 it looked certain that the club were heading towards relegation. Chris steadied the ship by bringing in new ideas and players and the results started to go the right way but there was still a nervous last day of the season where relegation was a possibility but the team won and Chris was able to make plans for the next season. The following season saw new players and a new attitude saw the team finish third in the league. No one could have predicted what the 2008 -09 season would hold for the Club as Chris guided the team to the quarter final of the FA Vase and the clubs most succesful season when they won the Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division title and promotion to Step 4 football.

Martin Field – Assistant Manager. Martin re-joined the Waders for the start of the 2009-10 season and little was he to know how big a part he would have to play in that season. Unfortunatlely, due to personal problems Chris was unable to be at many games last season and so Martin took charge and proved to be a very good acting manager. Words of encouragement from Chris along the lines of “well you have got the team I put together” should not detract from the successes Martin achieved that season. With Chris back in the hot-seat Martin provides the support in a role that he handles well.

Paul Reynolds – Coach. Having spent the last four seasons as a regular in the Waders defensive unit this season sees Paul take up the challenge of First Team Coach. Paul’s experience and knowledge of the Club and players should stand him in good stead for this key role and he is a welcome addition to Chris’s management team. Another added benefit is that Paul is still registered to play and when the need arises we know we can call on an experienced defender.

Joe Gatti – Assistant.  Joe has been around the club for a number of years starting as a player when he arrived from Italy and taking a number of roles within the club. Joe still plays a bit of football and would probably pick himself given the chance, a great character who has bags of passion for the game. Joe also has one of the most illustrious pasts of anyone at the Club having played for AC Milan as an under 18 player before a serious break to his leg effectively ended his footballing career

Nikki Baker – Sports Therapist.  Nikki is a welcome addition to the backroom staff at the club. Her experience and ability in her job is clear to see and as she still plays football for Luton Ladies she understands the player mind-set as well as knowing the best way to treat them.
